INGREDIENTS

You'll need:

DIRECTIONS

Let's get baking!

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. This is where a stand mixer comes in handy, but don't worry, you can definitely achieve the same result with a good ol' fashioned hand mixer or even a wooden spoon if you're feeling ambitious!

  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the cookies tough.

  6. Stir in the chocolate chips or your favorite mix-ins. I personally love adding a handful of chopped walnuts for that extra crunch, but feel free to get creative!

  7. Using a spoon or a cookie scoop, drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie.

  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges of the cookies are golden brown.

  9. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the cookies cool on the sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Enjoy your warm, gooey, and utterly irresistible Idiot's Lantern cookies!

These cookies are fantastic on their own, but they also make a delicious pairing with a cold glass of milk or a cup of coffee. They're perfect for sharing with friends and family, or simply indulging in a moment of sweet self-care.
